Ingredients
2 cups boiling water
1 cup baking cocoa
1 cup softened butter
21/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
11/2 tsp vanilla extract
23/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
Icing:
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy cream
Directions
For cake:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a small bowl, stir water into cocoa until blended, set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda, add to the creamed mixture alternatively with cocoa mixture, beating well after each addition.
Pour into 2 greased and floured 9" heart shaped or round pans. Bake at 350 degreesfor 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
For icing:
Heat chocolate chips and cream in a double boler and heat until chocolate is melted, stirring occasionally.
Spread over the cake until smooth. Refrigerate until set.

Thanks. Chocolate will always have FAT–calorie unless there is fat-free chocolate that one can find and use it in this recipe. Also, may be use Splenda instead of Sugar. I haven’t tried it.Other than that I don’t have any other suggestion to reduce the fat-calorie intake.

The presentation is truly wonderful Sarita! Without even reading the recipe story, i could guess that this would have been a valentine's pic. I loved the finely shaved chocolate icing! Great recipe, but I am bothered about the fat-calorie intake? Is there a way to cut on that?
