Chocolate Angel Pie Recipe
No wonder chocolate is reffered to as the Food of the Gods, it is indeed an irresistible wonder. This chocolate angel pie is a real treat for a chocoholic like me
Ingredients
3 egg whites
Dash of salt
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 c. sifted sugar
3/4 c. ground blanched almonds
1 tsp. almond extract
1/4 lb. sweet chocolate chips
3 tbsp. coffee
1 tbsp. cognac
1 c. heavy cream
Directions
Beat egg whites until foamy.
Add salt and cream of tartar; beat until soft peaks form.
Beat in sugar, one spoonful at a time, until stiff peaks form.
Fold in almonds and extract.
Line bottom and side of a 9-inch buttered pie pan with meringue.
Bake at 275 degrees for 45 minutes; cool.
Melt chocolate in cof- fee in double boiler.
Add cognac; stir until smooth.
Whip cream; fold into chocolate mixture.
Pour into pie shell.
Chill for 3 hours or until ready to serve.
