1. Combine the cream, sugar and liqueur in a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Bring to boiling; boil for 1 minute, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add both chocolates; stir until the chocolates are completely melted and smooth. Let the chocolate mixture stand for 10 minutes or until just warm to the touch. Add the butter and stir until melted. Pour the truffle mixture into a non-aluminum shallow baking dish, about 9x9x2 inches. Cover the dish and refrigerate until the truffle mixture is completely chilled.
2. Scoop out truffle balls about 1 inch in diameter with a melon bailer. Roll the truffles quickly between your palms to form smooth balls. The heat of your hands will melt the truffles, so work quickly. If the mixture melts too much, chill for 5 minutes in the refrigerator.
3. To coat the truffles: Sift together the cocoa powder and 10 X sugar onto a piece of wax paper. Place the ground almonds, if using, on a second sheet of wax paper. Roll the truffles in the cocoa mixture, or the almonds, to coat. Place the truffles in individual candy wrappers. The truffles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
