Ingredients

 
2 squares (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate
 
1 cup butter, softened
 
1/2 cup granulated sugar
 
1 egg
 
1 teaspoon vanilla
 
1/4 teaspoon salt
 
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
 
Powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F.
Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or leave ungreased.
Melt chocolate in top of double boiler over hot, not boiling, water.
Remove from heat; cool.
Cream butter, granulated sugar, egg, vanilla and salt in large bowl until light.
Blend in melted chocolate and flour until stiff.
Fit cookie press with your choice of plate.
Load press with dough; press cookies out onto cookie sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
Bake 5 to 7 minutes or just until very slightly browned around edges.
Remove to wire racks to cool.
Dust with powdered sugar.
