Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients

 
1 cup (1/2 lb.) butter or margarine
 
2 1/2 cups sugar
 
5 eggs
 
3 cups regular all-purpose flour
 
1/2 teaspoon each salt and baking powder
 
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
 
1 cup milk
 
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

Cream butter until light and fluffy.
Add sugar gradually, creaming well.
Beat in eggs, one at a time.
Sift flour, measure, then sift twice again with salt, baking powder, and cocoa.
Mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating just until blended.
Stir in vanilla.
Turn into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
Bake in a 325° oven for 1 hour and 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cool on rack, then turn out.
