Chocolate Orange Mousse Recipe
Ingredients
| 6 medium navel oranges or other thick-skinned oranges | ||
| Unsweetened chocolate | 6 Ounce | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Orange juice | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Orange liqueur | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Orange peel | 2 Teaspoon, grated | |
| Egg yolks | 6 , beaten | |
| 6 egg whites, room temperature | ||
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Whipping cream | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
With sharp knife, slice off upper 1/3 of each orange.
Remove pulp from larger sections and reserve for another use.
Melt chocolate in top of double boiler over simmering, not boiling, water.
Immediately stir in 1 cup sugar.
Blend in orange juice, liqueur and peel.
Stir in yolks and mix thoroughly.
Allow mixture to cool.
In separate bowl, beat whites until soft peaks form.
Gradually add remaining 1/2 cup sugar and beat until stiff and glossy.
Gently fold into chocolate mixture.
Whip cream and fold into mixture.
Spoon into orange shells and chill at least 2 hours or overnight.
