Directions

1. Measure flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt into sifter.
2. Beat shortening with sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy; beat in eggs and pepperment extract. Sift in flour mixture, blending well. Chill until firm enough to handle.
3. Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls; place, 4 inches apart on greased large cooky sheets; flatten balls to 1/4-inch thickness with the bottom of a glass, dipped in granulated sugar.
4. Bake in a moderate oven (350°) 10 minutes, or until firm. Remove cookies to wire racks to cool.
