Coffee Frosted Chocolate Drop Cookies Recipe

1/2 cup shortening
 
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
 
1 egg, beaten
 
2 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, melted
 
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 
1 3/4 cups sifted cake flour
 
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
1/2 cup milk
 
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
 
Chocolate Coffee Frosting

Directions

Cream shortening; gradually sugar, beating at low speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Add egg, chocolate, and vanilla; beat well.
Combine flour, soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, stirring well.
Stir in pecans.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls, about 1 1/2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes or until done.
Remove to wire racks and frost with Chocolate-Coffee Frosting while still warm.
