Chocolate Chip Date Coffee Cake Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup cut-up dates
1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chocolate chips
Directions
Mix dates, boiling water and soda together; let cool.
Cream margarine and sugar together.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Add flour and soda.
Add creamed mixture to the cooled date mixture; mix well.
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
Combine brown sugar, chopped nuts and chocolate chips together.
Sprinkle over top and bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350°.
May be topped with ice cream or whipped cream and served as a dessert.
