Ingredients

 
2 packages (6 oz. each) semisweet chocolate pieces
 
2 tablespoons sugar
 
3 eggs, separated
 
2 cups (1 pt.) heavy cream, whipped
 
1 small angel food cake (8 oz.)

Directions

Melt chocolate chips with sugar over hot water.
Remove from heat, add beaten egg yolks, and cool 5 minutes.
Beat egg whites stiff; fold beaten whites and whipped cream into chocolate mixture.
Break angel food cake into bite-size pieces; sprinkle a layer in the bottom of a buttered 8 by 12 by 2-inch baking dish, using about one half of the cake.
Cover with a layer of the chocolate mixture.
Dot this with the rest of the cake pieces; top with the remainder of the chocolate mixture.
