Chinese Pineapple Spareribs Recipe
Ingredients
| Spareribs - 4 pounds, cut into serving pieces | ||
| Water | 2 Quart | |
| Vinegar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Corn starch | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Dark molasses - 1/4 cup | ||
| Soy sauce | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (For The Glaze) | |
| Water | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) (For The Glaze) | |
| Vinegar | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) (For The Glaze) | |
| Green peppers - 1 1/2, cut into 1-inch cubes | ||
| Pineapple syrup - 3/4 cup | ||
| Pineapple slices - 1 can, cut into 1-inch pieces | ||
Directions
MAKING
1 In a pan, heat water just until the boiling point.
2 Stir in vinegar.
3 Add in the ribs.
4 Cover and cook until boiling again.
5 Remove the cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
6 Drain well and allow to cool.
7 In a large bowl, mix cornstarch, molasses and soy sauce.
8 Soak the ribs in the mixture until each is well coated and most of the liquid is absorbed.
9 In a skillet heat fat, fry the ribs until brown.
10 Fry few at a time.
11 Set aside and prepare the glaze.
12 In a pan, combine all the ingredients, except peppers and pineapple.
13 Allow to simmer, covered for 30 minutes with meat.
14 The meat will be glazed and tender.
15 Add in the peppers and pineapple.
SERVING
16 Serve with boiled rice.
