Chinese Chews Recipe
Ingredients
| 1/3 cup soft butter or margarine | ||
| Brown sugar | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Eggs | 2 | |
| 3/4 cup unsifted pastry flour | ||
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Dates | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Walnuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 1/2 cup chopped candied cherries or candied pineapple | ||
Directions
Beat butter, brown sugar, vanilla and eggs together until fluffy.
Stir in flour, baking powder and salt sifted together.
Add fruits and nuts.
Spread in a greased 9 X 7-inch pan' and bake at 350F for about 35 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cool and cut into bars.
Roll each in icing sugar or fruit sugar.
