Chinese Chews Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1 cup dates, cut in small pieces | ||
| 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped | ||
| Eggs | 2 , Well beaten | |
| Confectioners' sugar | ||
Directions
Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
Add the dates and pecans; mix well to coat evenly.
Add the beaten eggs; mix thoroughly.
Spread in a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan.
Bake in a 375° oven for 20 minutes, or until fairly firm.
Cut into 2 x 1-inch bars (or slightly smaller) while warm and roll in confectioners' sugar.
