Chinese Chews Recipe
Chinese Chews has a fine taste. The flour with dates and walnuts gives the Chinese Chews a great taste. Chinese Chews is served as dessert.
Ingredients
| Margarine | 2 Ounce | |
| Brown sugar | 2 Ounce | |
| Self raising flour | 4 Ounce | |
| Cherries | 2 Ounce, chopped | |
| Icing sugar | ||
| 1 dessertspoon syrup or treacle | ||
| Egg | 1 | |
| Dates | 4 Ounce, chopped | |
| Walnuts | 2 Ounce, chopped | |
| 2 oz. chopped peel | ||
| Grated lemon rind | ||
Directions
Sieve flour, rub in the margarine.
Add all the other ingredients.
Grease and flour a square shallow tin, measuring 7 or 8 inches across.
Put in the cake mixture at 400 °F.-Gas Mark 5 for about 25-35 minutes.
Remove from tin.
Cut into fingers and dredge with icing sugar.
