Chili con Came Recipe
Ingredients
1/3 cup bacon drippings
3 1/2 pounds ground round or chuck steak
3 onions, chopped (approximately 1 1/2 cups)
1 green pepper, diced
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, Pinch cayenne
4 (14-15-ounce) cans red kidney beans and liquid
1 (28-ounce) can tomatoes
3 tablespoons tomato paste
Directions
Melt drippings in a large heavy skillet.
Add meat, and stir-fry until well colored.
Drain off the fat.
Scrape the meat into a deep saucepan.
Add onions, green pepper, chili powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne.
Mix well.
Then add kidney beans with their liquid, tomatoes and tomato paste.
Combine thoroughly, and simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.
Note: For hot chili, increase amount of chili powder.
