Chili Beans And Sausage Recipe
Ingredients
2 pounds mild or hot sausage
2 large onions, chopped (2 cups)
4 cups peeled, diced tart apples
3 cups tomato juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 cans (15 to 17 ounces each) red kidney beans, drained
Dairy sour cream
Directions
Cook sausage just until it loses its pink color; break it up as it cooks.
Pour off all the fat and cook onion in the same pan until it is limp.
Add the apples, tomato juice, brown sugar, garlic, salt, chili and pepper.
Bring to boiling; remove from heat.
Add the kidney beans and stir to mix.
Turn into 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
Bake in a moderate oven (350°) 30 minutes or until bubbly.
Serve with sour cream.
NOTE: If you like a hot dish (as in spicy), use the hot sausage.
