Chili Con Carne Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Cornmeal | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
| Flour | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1⁄4 Teaspoon | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Milk | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 4 Tablespoon, melted | |
| Hamburger | 1 Pound | |
| Onion | 1 Small, chopped | |
| Tomatoes | 1 Ounce, can | |
| Tomato sauce | 1 Small, can | |
| Canned chili beans | 16 Ounce | |
| Chili powder | 1 Teaspoon |
Directions
Mix the cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
Add egg and milk and beat thoroughly.
Add 2 tablespoons shortening and stir until mixed.
Pour 3/4 of the mixture into a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
Cook the hamburger and onion in remaining shortening in a skillet until brown.
Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili beans and chili powder and simmer for 20 minutes.
Place over cornmeal mixture in baking dish and top with remaining cornmeal mixture.
Bake in 375-degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Add 2 tablespoons shortening and stir until mixed.
