Chili Con Carne Recipe
Ingredients
| Beef - 1 pound, grounded | ||
| Onions - 2 medium-size, coarsely chopped | ||
| Celery - 1 cup, coarsely chopped | ||
| Green peppers - 1/2 cup, coarsley chopped including seeds | ||
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), minced | |
| Oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Tomatoes - 2 cups, coarsely chopped | ||
| Tomato puree | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Catsup | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cumin | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Chili powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Cayenne pepper - a dash | ||
| Kidney beans | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Prepare the ingredients.
MAKING
2) Using a heavy skillet, saute beef, onions, celery, green peppers, and garlic in oil.
3) Add tomatoes, tomato puree, and catsup.
4) Season the ingredients, cover the skillet and simmer about 30 minutes.
5) Add beans, adjust seasoning, and continue to simmer 10 to 15 minutes longer.
SERVING
6) Serve the chili con carne over brown rice or in whole wheat pita pockets.
