Chicken Or Turkey Stuffing Recipe
This tasty Chicken Or Turkey Stuffing is a favorite at my home. I prepare this tasty filling for my turkey often on days the family feels like having a large and satisfying dinner! Try this yummy Chicken Or Turkey Stuffing recipe yourself!
Ingredients
1 cup cornmeal
2 tablespoons baking powder
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 onions, diced
4 stalks celery, diced
3 tablespoons rendered chicken fat
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
Directions
Combine cornmeal and baking powder.
Make a well in the center of dry ingredients; add a mixture of 2 eggs, well beaten, and the milk.
Beat until just smooth, being careful not to overmix.
Pour batter into a small greased iron skillet and cook on top of the range over medium heat until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
When cornbread is done, fry onion and celery in hot chicken fat in a skillet until golden brown.
Crumble cornbread and combine with onion mixture.
Mix in remaining 2 eggs, fork beaten, and poultry seasoning; stuff prepared chicken or turkey.
ABOUT 3 1/2 CUPS STUFFING NOTE: This stuffing is also good baked in a casserole and served with your favorite meat gravy.
