Chicken Curry - South Indian Style Recipe

This chicien curry is a south indian styled recipe for preparation of chicken. Cooked in the icrowave, this south indian chicken curry is flavored with tamarind paste, tomato puree, chilies, coriander and garam masala. Spicy and savory, the south indian chicken curry can be served with pulao, rice or naans.

Ingredients

 
800 gms chicken (cut into 8-10 pes)
 
250 gms onions
 
100 gms tomato puree
 
1 tbsp tamarind paste
 
1/2-tsp mustard seeds
 
1/2-tsp cumin seeds
 
2 bay leaves
 
2 dry red chilli (broken into small pieces)
 
4 black cardamoms
 
1 stick cinnamon
 
6-8 curry leaves
 
1-tsp coriander seeds
 
6-8 flakes garlic
 
1" piece ginger
 
1 tsp red chilli powder
 
1 tsp garam masala powder
 
Salt to taste
 
3 tbsp Oil

Directions

Grind the onions, ginger and garlic using just enough water into a paste.
Prick the chicken pieces all over with a fork knife.
Heat oil in a 2 litre deep dish on 100% power for 1:30 minutes.
Add cumin seeds mustard seeds, curry leaves, cinnamon stick, black cardamoms and dry red chillis and microwave on 100% power for 1 min.
Add ground onion paste and microwave on 100% power for 10 min.
Stir 2-3 times during cooking.
Add the tomato puree, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and 1 cup (250 ml) water.
Mix and microwave on 100% power for 3 min.
Add chicken pieces and microwave partially covered on 100% power for 10 min.
Stir 2-3 times during cooking.
Allow standing covered with an aluminum foil for 10 minutes before serving.
