1/4 cup butter
2 2 1/2-pound frying chickens, cut into serving pieces
1 onion, sliced
1/4 pound mushrooms, sliced
1 1/4 cups homemade chicken broth
3 tablespoons lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 tablespoon unsulphured molasses
4 teaspoons arrowroot
2 tablespoons cold water
1 cup cubed fresh pineapple
4 green-tipped bananas, halved lengthwise and then crosswise
Directions
1. Melt the butter in a heavy skillet, add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides. Add onion and mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes longer.
2. Add the broth, juice, salt, cloves, allspice, and molasses. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
3. Blend the arrowroot with the cold water and stir into the skillet. Stir until the mixture thickens. Add the pineapple and banana pieces. Heat through but do not boil.
