1 large onion, diced
1 medium-sized red pepper, cut into strips
1 medium-sized zucchini (about 8 ounces), chopped
1 14 1/2- to 16-ounce can tomatoes
2 cups water
1 1/4 cups orzo (rice-shaped pasta)
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon hot-pepper sauce (optional)
1 cup frozen peas
Directions
1. In 8-quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook chicken wings and sausages until browned on all sides, about 15 minutes. With slotted spoon, remove chicken wings and sausages to large bowl.
2. In drippings remaining in Dutch oven, over medium-high heat, cook onion, red pepper, and zucchini until tender, stirring occasionally. Add tomatoes with their liquid, water, orzo, salt, oregano leaves, paprika, turmeric, hot-pepper sauce, and browned chicken wings and sausages; over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 10 minutes.
3. Stir in frozen peas; heat through.
