Chicken Cacciatore With Pasta Recipe

Ingredients
1 broiler-fryer chicken (2 1/2 to 3 pounds), cut in serving pieces
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground thyme
1 cup water
1/2 cup red wine
1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
Cooked spaghetti or Homemade

Directions
1. Cut large pieces of chicken in half for uniform size. Rinse chicken pieces and pat dry. Set aside.
2. Combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, onion, dry seasonings, water and wine in a 3-quart glass casserole. Add chicken pieces and coat with sauce. Arrange pieces with thin end toward center and thicker end toward outside. Cover with waxed paper.
3. Cook in microwave oven 10 minutes at High. Turn and rearrange chicken pieces. Cover and continue cooking 10 minutes at High.
4. Add mushrooms to sauce; stir. Cook uncovered in microwave oven 5 minutes at High, or until chicken is tender.
