Chicken Cacciatore Recipe

Ingredients
1 2 1/2- to 3-pound broiler-fryer chicken, cut up
2 tablespoons cooking oil
2 medium onions, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 16-ounce can tomatoes, cut up
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried basil or oregano, crushed
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 or 2 bay leaves
1/4 cup dry white wine
Directions
In skillet brown chicken in hot cooking oil.
Remove chicken.
In same skillet cook onions and garlic till onion is tender but not brown.
Return chicken to skillet.
Combine undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, basil or oregano, celery seed, pepper, and bay leaves.
Pour over chicken.
Cover; simmer 30 minutes.
Stir in wine.
Cook, uncovered, 15 minutes; turn often.
Remove bay leaves; skim fat
Remove chicken.

Pour over chicken.
