Chicken And Kraut Recipe

Ingredients
1 3-pound broiler-fryer, cut up
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons salad oil
1 32-ounce bag sauerkraut, drained
1 12-ounce can beer
4 large carrots, cut into 2-inch chunks
2 tablespoons dark-brown sugar
Directions
1. Rub chicken pieces with salt and pepper. In 5-quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat, in hot salad oil, cook chicken, several pieces at a time, until browned, removing pieces to plate as they brown. Spoon oil from Dutch oven.
2. Return chicken to Dutch oven; add sauerkraut, beer, carrots, and brown sugar; over high heat, heat mixture to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 45 minutes or until chicken is fork-tender.
