Recipe Story

Its essential in Iftar menu, made from bleck garam chhole is called "GHUGNI" in BIHAR,

Ingredients

 
(1) - GRAM ( Black or white) 1/2 kg. soaked 5-6 hours.
 
(2) -2 Large Onion finely chopped.
 
(3) - Ginger paste 1 1/2 tbsp.
 
(4) - Red chilli crushed 1 tsp.
 
(5) - Black pepper powder 1 tsp
 
(6) - Zeera powder 1 1/2 tsp.
 
(7) - Salt to taste.
 
(8) - Oli 1/2 cup for cooking.
 
(9) - Onion rings for garnishing

Directions

Heat the oil. add onion and sorte it when it becomes golde add soaked garam , salt, ginger paste, crushed red chilli add some water to cooking.
Cook it 1 & more hour, when garm becomes tender & dry add zeera powder & black pepper powder and serve it garnish with onionings.

This sounds like a different Chole recipe. The one I make has some gravy since i use tomatoes, mint and cilantro. This sounds different and nice. Shall give it a try.

I have made the black but we were not so fond of it and prefer the regular-white. I made Pindi Chana the other night-love the flavours. This recipe sounds quite nice, I will try this as we love chloe. The ones I make are always with a sauce/gravy. Shanti/Mary-Anne
