Cherry Date Loaf Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter | 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
| Dates | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), cut up | |
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Boiling water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| All purpose flour | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
| White sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Cherries | 1 Cup (16 tbs), halved | |
| Nuts | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped | |
| Eggs | 2 , beaten |

Directions
Pour boiling water overtop.
Add vanilla.
In second bowl, combine dry ingredients and mix.
Add cherries and nuts.
In mixing bowl, beat eggs until frothy and light.
Add date mixture and stir to mix.
Add flour/cherry mixture; stir only until moistened.
Spoon into greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until pick comes out clean.
Cool 10 minutes and remove from pan and cool on rack.
This a very tasty loaf and it is especially dear to me as it was given to me by my friend, shirley marcus, who passed away.
