Cherry Waffles Recipe
Ingredients
| Waffles for 4 servings | ||
| Grated orange rind | ||
| Water | 1 Can (10oz), pitted | |
| Sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cornstarch | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Lemon juice | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Red food coloring | ||
| Buttered chopped blanched almonds | ||
Directions
Prepare waffles using mix or your favorite recipe, adding a little grated orange rind to batter.
Drain cherries and measure juice.
Mix sugar with cornstarch and salt.
Add enough water to the juice to make 1 cup.
Add mixture gradually to cornstarch mixture.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened.
Stir in cherries, lemon juice, and food coloring.
Serve hot on waffles with a sprinkling of buttered chopped almonds.
