Cherry Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
1 can (1 pound) pitted dark sweet cherries
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon molasses
Few drops red-pepper seasoning
Dash of salt
3 tablespoons lemon juice
Directions
1. Drain syrup from cherries into a 2-cup measure; add water to make 1 1/2 cups.
2. Blend a few tablespoons syrup into cornstarch until smooth in a small saucepan; stir in remaining syrup, mustard, molasses, red-pepper seasoning and salt Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils 3 minutes.
3. Stir in cherries and lemon juice; heat slowly just until bubbly.
