Cherry Pineapple Bars Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Packed brown sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Butter/Margarine | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Granulated Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cornstarch | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Pineapple can | 1 8 3/4 Ounce, crushed | |
| Egg yolks | 2 , beaten | |
| Maraschino cherries | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped |
Directions
Combine flour, brown sugar, and salt; cut in butter till crumbly.
Set aside 1 cup crumb mixture; press remaining mixture on bottom of 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
Cool slightly while preparing topping.
In saucepan combine granulated sugar and cornstarch.
Stir in undrained pineapple and egg yolks.
Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture thickens and bubbles.
Remove from heat; stir in cherries.
Spread evenly over baked layer.
Sprinkle on reserved crumb mixture.
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes more.
Cool before cutting into bars.
