Cherry Cake Recipe

Cherry Cake is a tasty fruit and nut cake that you just cant miss. I started serving this as an experiment to see if my kids would have it and now its their favorite. You will definitely love this Cherry Cake recipe

1 cup butter
 
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
 
1 cup sugar
 
1 1/2 cups glace cherries
 
5 eggs
 
3 tablespoons ground almonds
 
3 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
 
A little grated lemon rind

Directions

Cream the butter and sugar together until white.
Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat well between each egg, remembering to dust a little flour over each egg as you break it into the bowl.
Add the lemon rind.
Sift the flour with the "baking powder and fold gently into the mixture.
Toss the cherries in the ground almonds and stir into the mixture.
Bake in an 8 inch cake pan that has been lined with wax paper at 350° for approximately 2 hours.
