Cherry Buttermilk Loaf Recipe
Ingredients
| 8 oz. self-raising flour | ||
| Baking powder | 1 1/2 Teaspoon (Leveled) | |
| Mixed spice | 1/4 Teaspoon (Leveled) | |
| Ground ginger | 1/4 Teaspoon (Leveled) | |
| Butter/Margarine | 4 Ounce | |
| 4 oz. soft dark brown sugar | ||
| Cherries | 6 Ounce, halved | |
| 1/2 tbsp. black treacle | ||
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| Buttermilk | 1/4 Pint | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1. With greased greaseproof paper, line a 9"X5" loaf tin
MAKING
2. Into a basin, sift the flour, spices and baking powder
3. Rub in butter or argarine ot the flour until it attains a crumbly texture
4. To this add the sugar and cherries
5. Mix the treacle, egg and buttermilk together and add them to the dry ingredients; blend well adn turn it into the prepared loaf tin
6. Bake it in the oven at 350°F for one or one and a quarter hour
7. Turn it out on a wire rack and allow to cool
