Cherries Supreme Recipe

Cherries supreme is a baked and frozen dessert made with cherry pie filling. Prepared with a flour and pecan crust baked and layerd with ice cream, the cherries supreme is frozen before serving and can be dished out with a topping of choice.

Directions

Heat oven to 400°.
Mix butter, sugar, flour and pecans; press evenly in bottom of ungreased baking pan, 9x9x2 inches.
Bake until light brown, about 12 minutes.
Crumble with spoon.
Cool.
Reserve 1 cup of the crumbs; press remaining crumbs evenly in bottom of pan.
Pack ice cream on crumbs.
Sprinkle reserved crumbs on top.
Wrap, label and freeze.
Freeze until firm, at least 4 hours.
Just before serving, heat 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling, stirring occasionally.
Stir in 2 tablespoons rum flavoring if desired.
Remove Cherries Supreme from freezer and unwrap.
Cut into 3 inch squares.
Spoon topping on each serving.
