Cherries In Red Wine Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 1/2 cups Burgundy or other dry red wine | ||
| Sugar | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Ginger root | 1 Tablespoon, minced | |
| Cinnamon stick | 1 | |
| Black peppercorns | 10 To taste | |
| Lemon, rind strip | 6 | |
| Sweet cherries package | 2 , frozen | |
Directions
Combine first 6 ingredients in a large saucepan.
Bring to a boil.
Add cherries; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until cherries are tender.
Transfer cherries to a bowl, using a slotted spoon.
Return wine mixture to a boil; cook over medium-high heat 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat; strain through a fine sieve.
Pour mixture over cherries.
Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
