Cheesy Beef Pasta Recipe

Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef 500 g
1 onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 sweet green pepper, chopped
1 tsp dried basil 5 mL
1/2 tsp dried thyme 2 mL
1 can (28 oz/796 mL) crushed tomatoes
1 cup water 250 mL
2 cups rotini pasta 500 mL
1/4 tsp each salt and sugar 1 mL
Pinch pepper
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (1/4 lb/125 g) 250 mL
Directions
In large nonstick skillet, cook beef over high heat, stirring, for 3 to 5 minutes or until no longer pink.
Pour off all but 1 tbsp (15 mL) of fat.
Cook onion, garlic, green pepper, basil and thyme, stirring, for 2 minutes.
Stir in tomatoes and water; bring to boil.
Add pasta and reduce heat to simmer; cover partially and cook, stirring frequently, for about 15 minutes or until pasta is tender.
Stir in salt, sugar and pepper.
Remove from heat.
Sprinkle with mozzarella.
Cover and let stand until cheese has melted.
Pour off all but 1 tbsp (15 mL) of fat.
Cook onion, garlic, green pepper, basil and thyme, stirring, for 2 minutes.
