Mediterranean Cheesecake Recipe Video

Cheesecake is supposed to be creamy and soothing...this Mediterranean cheesecake definitely incorporates that along with some traditional Mediterranean ingredients to give it a little twist. The kadaifi crust is something new and flavorful to the cheesecake, the coconut topping only compliments the flavor of orange zest and orange water. This is definitely worth a try.

Directions

GETTING READY
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
2. In a large bowl, using a blender or hand mixer, add cream cheese, sour cream and sweetened condensed milk until well blended.
3. Next, put sugar, vanilla, orange and rose water and orange zest and blend well for 1 minute. Add egg and blend for 30 seconds.
4. In a separate bowl break up the kadaifi and add the 3 tablespoon sugar and butter and mix well.

MAKING
5. In a muffin tin or in a regular cheese cake pan, line it with the kadaifi pastry along the bottom and side of the pan.
6. Pour in the cheese cake filling 80% of the way of the pan.
7. Place in the oven and cook for 20 minutes.
8. Remove from oven and cool completely or overnight before serving.

SERVING
9. In a serving plate, slice and top with some of the simple syrup, coconut or pistachio or both and then a little bit of simple syrup on top for glaze and serve.

Hi dede my search for a good dessert got me here. Have been wanting to make cheesecake for some time now. With cream cheese not available here can I substitute it with cottage cheese or Paneer as it is known as in the Indian cuisine?
