Ingredients

 
Butter or margarine - 3 tablespoons
 
Bread - 5 slices, cut in cubes or strips
 
Processed American cheese - 1 cup (*4 pound), shredded
 
Egg - 1 large, beaten
 
Milk - 1 cup
 
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
 
Dry mustard - 1/2 teaspoon
 
Pepper - dash

Directions

GETTING READY
1. Heat oven to moderate (350° F).

MAKING
2. In a skillet melt the butter or margarine and toss adding bread until lightly browned.
3. Grease a 1 quart casserole and alternate layers of bread then cheese in it.
4. In a bowl combine egg, milk and seasonings.
5. Pour over bread and cheese.
6. Set casserole in a pan containing 1 inch of water and bake for 40 minutes.

SERVING
7. Serve the fondue hot with garnish as desired.
