Cheese Steak Heroes Recipe
Ingredients
Butter or margarine
2 medium-sized onions, thinly sliced
2 medium-sized green peppers, thinly sliced
4 beef cubed steaks
1/2 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning
4 8-inch-long hero rolls
1/2 8-ounce package sliced American cheese
Directions
1. In 12-inch skillet over medium heat, in 2 tablespoons hot butter or margarine (1/4 stick), cook onions and green peppers until tender, stirring occasionally. Remove to small bowl.
2. In same skillet over medium-high heat, in 1 tablespoon more butter or margarine, cook 2 cubed steaks until browned on both sides, about 3 minutes. Repeat with remaining steaks, adding more butter or margarine if necessary.
3. Preheat broiler if manufacturer directs. In cup, mix 2 tablespoons butter or margarine (1/4 stick) with herb seasoning. Cut each roll horizontally in half; spread with butter mixture. Place rolls, cut side up, on rack in broiling pan; broil 1 to 2 minutes until golden.
4. On bottom half of rolls, arrange cubed steaks, then vegetable mixture; top with cheese. Broil 2 minutes or until cheese melts.
