Ingredients

 Milk2 Cup (16 tbs)
 American Cheese1/2 Pound, cut into cubes
 Butter1 Tablespoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Pepper1 Dash
 Eggs3 , separated
 4 slices toasted white bread, cut in cubes

Directions

Scald milk and remove from heat.
Add cheese, butter and seasonings, and stir until cheese melts.
Beat egg yolks thoroughly and slowly stir into milk mixture.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold lightly but thoroughly into cheese mixture.
Place toast cubes in bottom of buttered baking dish (6 by 10 by 2 inches, or 8-inch square) and pour cheese mixture over top.
Bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) for about 45 minutes, or until a sharp knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
