2 pounds halibut fillets, 1 inch thick
1/2 cup salad oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 clove garlic, minced or mashed
1 cup commercially grated American cheese
1/2 cup fine dry bread crumbs
Directions
Cut the halibut into pieces approximately 1 inch wide by 2 inches long.
Combine the oil, salt, and garlic.
Marinate the halibut steaks in the oil for 1 to 2 minutes, then drain.
