Cheese And Onion Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| Just under 1/2 quantity risen plain white dough | ||
| 1 tablespoon margarine or oil | ||
| Onion | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), finley chopped | |
| Cheddar Cheese | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), grated | |
Directions
Melt the margarine or heat the oil gently and fry the onion slowly until soft and transparent but not at all colored.
Add most of the cheese and the onion to the dough and squeeze and knead into the dough by hand until they are both evenly mixed through the dough.
Shape to fit a greased small 4 1/2 x2 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch loaf pan or divide into 8 pieces and shape into rolls.
Cover and let rise.
Bake the loaf in the center of a hot oven (425°F) for 30-35 minutes and the rolls toward the top of the oven for 15-20 minutes.
Sprinkle reserved cheese and onion on top 5 minutes before end of cooking time.
Turn out and cool.
