Ingredients

 Milk1 Cup (16 tbs) (scalded)
 Shortening1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Sugar1 Tablespoon
 Flour3 Cup (48 tbs), sifted
 Flour3 Cup (48 tbs) (sifted)

Directions

Dissolve the yeast in the warm water.
Mix the milk, shortening, salt and sugar in a bowl and cool to lukewarm.
Add the yeast and mix well.
Add enough flour to make a stiff dough and mix thoroughly.
Turn out on a floured board and knead for 5 to 10 minutes.
Place in a greased bowl and turn to grease surface.
Cover with a towel.
Let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, then punch down.
Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.
Turn out on a floured board and divide in half.
Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Roll each half out to a 12-inch circle and place on 2 greased pizza pans or cookie sheets.
Shape edge into a ridge.
