Ingredients

1 fryer-roaster turkey, 4 to 6 pounds, quartered

Melted butter or margarine for basting

Salt and pepper, as desired

Directions

GETTING READY
1)Start the grill fire. Allow the charcoal briquets to turn into hot embers covered by fine white ash.

MAKING
2)On the grill, place the turkey quarters skin side up after brushing butter or margarine on them.
3)The turkey maybe be seasoned with salt and pepper.
4)Baste the turkey often and turn the turkey every 15mins.
5)Keep the turkey 8 to 10inches away from the embers and cook slowly.

SERVING
6)Remove from heat, make slices and serve hot.

TIPS
Fold the wings back under the under wings and make a compact piece of meat for uniform cooking.
To cook a 5 pound bird, it takes about 2 to 2 ½ hours.
When the turkey is well-done and cooked, the thighs will easily twist out of the sockets and the meat will be easy to pull when a fork is used.
