Char Siu Recipe
Ingredients
| Boneless pork | 1 2/3 Pound | |
| Honey | 1 1/2 Tablespoon | |
| Hot water | 1 1/2 Tablespoon | |
| Marinade | ||
| Soy sauce | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Dry sherry | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Hoisin sauce | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Five spice powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Sesame paste | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Brown sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ginger slice | 1 | |
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), crushed | |
| Vegetable oil | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Dash red food coloring | ||
Directions
1 To Make Marinade: Combine marinade ingredients in bowl.
2 Cut pork into strips 1 1/4 x 6 inches (3x15 cm). Pierce all over with a skewer. Add to marinade, stirring to coat. Let stand 1 hour or overnight in refrigerator.
3 Roast pork Chinese style on a rack over a pan of water at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes. Baste with marinade. Reduce heat to 350°F (180°C). Roast a further 10 minutes.
4 Brush pork with honey mixture on each side, and continue cooking for 10 minutes.
5 Slice pork thinly. Serve hot or cold or in combination recipes.
