Ingredients

2 cups chapatti flour
dash of salt
water as necessary
ghee for serving

How to make Chapatti (Basic Indian Bread)

Take out 4 tablespoons of flour for dredging.
Add salt to the rest of the flour and with water, as necessary, make a soft pliable dough.
Knead well, cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 20 minutes.
Then knead the dough again, divide it into 16 portions and make small balls of each.
Flatten each ball, dip it into the dry flour and roll out into a thin disc.
Heat the griddle until very hot.
Cook each chapatty for about 30 seconds on each side on the griddle.
Then expose it to direct heat, from both sides, to help it swell up.
Apply a little ghee on the surface of each chapatty and serve hot.
