Chapati (Indian Bread) Recipe

Chapati!! If you were looking for a winning Chapati recipe then this is the place to be! Best enjoyed as a Main Dish this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. It is an Indian kitchen invention. You owe me a thanks for sharing this recipe.

Ingredients

 
1 cup whole wheat flour
 
1/4 cup water
 
2 tablespoons oil
 
Salt

Directions

Mix together all the ingredients in a mixing bowl until a firm dough is formed.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Divide the dough into walnut-sized balls.
On a lightly floured surface roll out each ball about 1/4-inch thick.
On a hot iron griddle, grill each round well on one side and then turn to cook the other side.
Place the finished chapati on a kitchen towel and cover to keep warm until all are done.
You can also fry the circles in heated oil.
If fried, they are called Puri.
Note: Chapati freeze very well.
