Celery Hearts With Spiced Tomato Sauce Recipe

4 whole celery hearts
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
3/4 cup water
 
1 clove garlic
 
3/4 cup catsup
 
2 tablespoons salad oil
 
1 tablespoon vinegar
 
2 teaspoons celery salt

Directions

Wash celery hearts; trim off ragged leaves.
Tie a string around the top of each heart.
Cook hearts in boiling salted water 15 to 20 minutes, or until tender.
Drain; remove strings.
Arrange cooked celery on a hot serving platter.
While celery is cooking, prepare sauce by rubbing a bowl generously with garlic, leaving pieces of about 1/2 clove garlic in the bowl.
Pour in catsup, salad oil, and vinegar.
Season with celery salt, and mix well.
Spoon sauce over each celery heart before serving.
