Carob Cream Recipe

3 cups milk
 
3 tablespoons cornstarch
 
2 egg yolks
 
1/3 cup honey
 
3 tablespoons BASIC CAROB SYRUP
 
3 tablespoons whole wheat flour
 
1 teaspoon vanilla
 
1 tablespoon butter
 
2 egg whites, beaten stiff

Directions

Mix 1/2 cup milk with cornstarch.
In a saucepan, heat remaining milk.
Mean while, in a small bowl, mix egg yolks, honey, carob syrup, and flour.
Blend well, then add to heated milk.
Add cornstarch mixture and cook until thick (about 8 minutes), stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and add vanilla and butter.
Cool and transfer to oven-proof dish.
Cover with beaten egg whites and set under broiler for about 5 minutes, or until meringue browns slightly.
