Carna Asada Sandwich Recipe Video
Ingredients
Beef Flank Steak – 1 (2 pound)
Onion Slices – 1 tablespoon
Avocado - 1
Jalapenos – 2, sliced
Refried Beans – 2 tablespoons
Tomato Slices - 3
Lettuce – 1 tablespoon, shredded finely
Fresh Cilantro – 1 teaspoon, finely chopped
Green Chili Sauce – 1 teaspoon
Pickled Jalapenos – 1 teaspoon
Chipotle Pepper Marinade – 1 packet
Montreal Steak Seasoning – a generous sprinkling
Water – ¼ cup
Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil – 1 ¼ cup
Juice of ½ a lime
Directions
GETTING READY
1) In a bowl mix the water and the oil together
2) Add in the entire packet of chipotle pepper marinade and mix well
3) Into a zip lock pouch place the steak and pour in the marinade
4) Work the marinade around and allow the beef to marinate for about 8 hours or overnight in the refrigerator
MAKING
5) Once marinated, place the steak on a hot grill
6) Grill each side for about 5 minutes
7) Meanwhile using a sharp knife, cut across the avocado and scoop out the flesh into a bowl
8) Mash the flesh and then add lime juice and keep aside
9) Meanwhile flip the steak to sear on the other side
10) Once seared, place the meat over the indirect heat of the grill
11) Cover and cook and for about 5 minutes
12) Take the steak off from the flame and allow to rest for about 10 minutes
13) Slice the steak thinly
14) Take good quality sandwich bread and spread some refried beans on each
15) Top with slices of the sliced steak
16) Add the mashed avocado atop
17) Sprinkle in some Montreal seasoning
18) Add in some tomato slices, onion slices and the pickled jalapenos
19) Top with some fresh cilantro
20) Close the sandwich with the other half and place on the grill for about 2 minutes

21) Serve the sandwich warm topped with some chili sauce
