Caramels Recipe
Caramels are simply loved by kids all over the world. Caramels get its taste from corn syrup mixed with butter and flavored with vanilla.
Ingredients
2 cups sugar 2 cups light corn syrup
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
2 cups Evaporated Milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions
Butter 9-inch square baking pan.
In heavy 3-quart saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and salt.
Cook over medium-high heat until mixture reaches firm-ball stage (244 F), stirring constantly.
Stir in butter.
Very slowly add evaporated milk so that mixture does not stop boiling.
Cook rapidly to firm-ball stage again (approximately 30 minutes), stirring constantly.
Stir in vanilla and nuts.
Pour into prepared pan without scraping side of saucepan.
Cool until firm.
